Eatontown takes its name from Thomas Eaton, who built a mill on the brook here around 1670, near what is now Wampum Lake Park. For most of the last century the borough was defined by Fort Monmouth, the Army post that operated from 1917 until it closed in 2011, and by Monmouth Mall at Routes 35 and 36. Both are being rebuilt now: a film studio and new neighborhoods are going up on the fort land, and the mall site is becoming a mixed-use district with apartments. The borough's 13,597 residents (2020 census) live in a mix of older homes, garden apartments and newer townhouses. MaxClean Restoration covers all of Eatontown, 24/7.
Eatontown neighborhoods we cover
The historic center around Main Street, Broad Street and Lewis Street. Wampum Lake and the streets around the park. Locust Grove. Pinebrook and the new construction on former Fort Monmouth land. The apartment and townhouse communities along Route 35 and Route 36, and the shops and offices along both highways. Eatontown is surrounded by Shrewsbury, Oceanport, West Long Branch, Ocean Township and Tinton Falls. We also serve nearby Long Branch, Red Bank and Neptune.
Where Eatontown gets wet
Wampum Brook and Wampum Lake. In heavy rain, water backs up from Wampum Lake and its brook into nearby apartment buildings and across Route 35. Federal funding has been requested to fix the problem. Whale Pond Brook and Parkers Creek also have regulated flood areas in the borough. Ground-floor apartments and finished basements near these streams are the first to take water.
Apartment buildings. Eatontown has a lot of garden apartments and condos. One washing machine hose or water heater failure can soak several units and a shared hallway. Our technicians dry and document each unit separately, and property managers get one clear report.
Older homes in the center of town. Houses near Main Street often have original plumbing, stone or block foundations and basements that seep in long rains. That combination makes them more likely to grow mold. A musty basement is worth a moisture check.
Fire, smoke and puff-backs. Soot from a kitchen fire or an oil burner puff-back settles on every surface in the house. Fire is usually covered under most homeowner policies, and getting soot cleaned quickly keeps it from staining permanently.

What to expect from our team
Eatontown is close to our Freehold office, so we can usually start the same hour you call. Our technicians stop the water, protect what can be saved and map the moisture with meters and a thermal camera. Then they set up drying equipment. We return to check readings and adjust the setup until the job meets drying standards. When it's dry, our team handles the repairs. That includes drywall, flooring, cabinets and paint, so you're not hiring a second contractor. See finished projects on our before-and-after page.
Insurance
We send the invoice to your insurance carrier on your behalf, but the invoice is still the homeowner's responsibility. That includes your deductible and anything your carrier doesn't pay.
In New Jersey, homeowners usually have the right to choose their own restoration contractor. We specialize in working with both homeowners and insurance companies to make sure the work is properly documented and covered, so your home gets back to its pre-loss condition. Renters should know that a landlord's policy covers the building, not your belongings. A renters policy is what covers your things. Learn more on our insurance claims page.
